# MailBridge

> A Mac menu bar app that connects AI assistants to Apple Mail (Mail.app). Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Codex and Cursor connect through MCP; a built-in assistant can instead run a local model through Ollama. Local mode keeps mail on the Mac; connected assistants receive the messages they read. Optional Jev Triage shares sender, subject and a short redacted snippet from selected accounts with TypeSafe. No mail passwords are stored, and nothing is sent from Mail until the person clicks Send in a native dialog.

- Trial: every feature free for 7 days, one optional extra day, then a license is required.
- Requirements: macOS 14 or later, Apple silicon and Intel. Needs Full Disk Access, which the person switches on in System Settings (macOS never prompts for it) for MailBridge and for any connected assistant app that starts the helper (Claude, Cursor, or the terminal for CLI assistants), plus Mail automation permission.
- Internet: reading mail is local. Starting the trial and activating a license need the internet, and a license checks in at least every 14 days.
- Accounts: every IMAP account Mail.app is signed in to, all at the same time (Gmail, iCloud, Yahoo, Outlook.com over IMAP, work IMAP, custom domains). Exchange and POP accounts are not supported yet; they are listed as not readable. A local Ollama model sees the same accounts.
- Tools (14): list_accounts, list_inbox, read_message, mark_read, flag_message, move_message, save_draft, request_send, digest, waiting_on_you, waiting_on_them, list_bulk_senders, unsubscribe_target, find_attachments. Only request_send can send, and it always asks the person.
- Jev Triage (0.4, optional, off by default, only for accounts the person ticks): Jev, TypeSafe's decision model, answers kind, needs_reply, action_required and urgency for each message from the sender, subject, a preview of up to 300 characters with addresses and numbers blanked out, and three yes/no flags; never the full email, a recipient or an attachment. It runs on the person's own TypeSafe key, billed by TypeSafe. MailBridge ranks the inbox on the answers. With it off, sorting runs on the Mac: the local model through Ollama if installed, otherwise rules and date order.
